Designed for and delivered by Watkin Jones Group, this 450 bed student housing development was Heriot Watt’s follow up to the previously completed Christina Millar Halls of Residence. It forms part of the university’s wider building programme which also includes the new national sports hub. This scheme imparted a sense of place to the scattered estate of buildings by providing a high density solution that responds to the overall topography of the campus, and features a series of landscaped elements that combine to give the development a village feel. Clad in a combination of brick, render, zinc and composite panels, the proposals provided a contemporary campus village environment with its own identity.
The proposals, that constituted a Major Planning Application, were completed in July 2016 and achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating.
