SECTOR: All, Hotel & Leisure

STATUS: Feasibility

This concept design study was to facilitate a high-quality stand-alone events venue for an existing hotel in a rural setting. It was proposed to take advantage of the topography to relocate the majority of the car parking to the rear of the hotel and cap the car parking with a ‘green roofed’ deck, in turn allowing the opportunity to soften the landscape for views from bedrooms to the rear of the hotel, as well as creating a landscaped garden for any redeveloped spa and wet leisure to sit in.

The proposed new events venue is to cantilever out over the surrounding landscape, supported by deep girder trusses in each side wall and the trusses will have back-spans that continue along the length of the building. The double height main venue sits at the head overlooking the river and maximising the fabulous wider views up and down the river with break out space being provided via a green roof garden and terrace spill out areas.
