Master plan and detailed analysis for the formation of a new operational depot at Stobhill in Midlothian, which would re-locate and co-locate on one site the disparate services including roads, landscaping, fleet, construction, property management, catering/cleaning, support services and waste/kerbside services, which were located on seven different sites throughout Midlothian. Several sites were considered for its location but ultimately the existing fleet workshops and land at Stobhill were earmarked as the most strategically suitable. Months of dialogue and discussion with all the relevant services resulted in an extensive brief including detailed room sheets, operations' data sheets and specification for the depot and the subsequent master plan layout options, office and store plan layouts and cost plan analysis process. Discussions also took place with Planning and Building Control regarding the preferred finalised master plan option, which included discussions on:
new road access requirements, given the projected fleet requirements on vehicle movement in and out of the site
transport assessment reports
green travel plans
sustainable energy policies including a sustainable approach to the build form and landscape - sustainable urban drainage principles (green water SUDS systems/proposals)
siting of the salt dome
acoustic screening of the civic amenity and waste transfer site
