John Street, Aberdeen
Occupying a vacant and derelict site in the centre of Aberdeen the proposals comprise 374 bedrooms in two 6 and 8 storey blocks arranged a central courtyard.
The blocks respond positively to the immediate context to reinforce the street frontage to John Street by infilling the previous gap site and introduce a ‘landmark’ tower feature at the prominent south west corner. A sympathetic pallette of facing brick, ceramic and metal cassette rainscreen systems are applied to create a contemporary aesthetic which responds to the industrial heritage of the site.
An application for full planning consent was submitted in Oct 2016 in anticipation of a potential site commencement in early 2017 for a summer 2018 delivery
