Glenbervie House Hotel
The Glenbervie Luxury Resort masterplan formed a successful outline planning application for a 203 bed hotel resort linked to the existing country house. The wider scheme also provided specialised housing, including serviced apartments and a new spa with leisure and recreation facilities around the site.
The masterplan incorporated a sustainable urban drainage strategy (SUDS) where a series of small lakes, water margins and reed beds dealt with water displacement in the development while forming rich ecological habits within the site. Green roofs and gardens added to the bio-diverse strategy around the development while boreholes were proposed to link with the landscapes irrigation system.
Boreholes were also proposed to drive ground source heat pumps with geothermal energy. On the hotel wings, solar panels were proposed to heat water and provide a renewable electricity source, increasing the resorts low carbon aspirations.
