Nairn Street, Glasgow

The proposals aim to complete the city block and to reinforce the existing form and streetscape of both Nairn and Yorkhill Streets, whilst creating a new urban frontage to Yorkhill Parade.  The proposed five and six storey blocks step to match the topography and with the pattern of the existing tenement buildings where existing eaves and ridge heights have been maintained.  The proposed top floors have been set back and the elevation is varied to create a light mix of glass and zinc fenestration at roof level.  The existing building lines of Nairn and Yorkhill Streets have been respected and matched.  The proposed elevations have been designed to fit in with the existing pattern, being broken with parapet walls echoing the tenement chimneys.
