Grove Street, Edinburgh

A mixed use development of student accommodation and leisure facilities on the site of the former Marco’s in Grove Street, Edinburgh for a leading student operator.  Arranged around three separate blocks, the student element provides 321 beds, comprising 209 studio apartments and 112 cluster beds arranged into a mix of one, three, four, five and six beds, each with a communal lounge/kitchen.  All bedrooms have been designed as pre-fabricated en-suites. Communal facilities include social lounges on each floor and a music, TV and laundry room.  Below street level a 7,500 ft2 leisure facility has been formed, which links independently to a new ground floor leisure reception and café bistro.  The student accommodation will be used as an apart-hotel during non-term time.

Construction methods included single storey steel transfer structure to ground floor podium level, thereafter traditional masonry built.

Finishes included stone, brick and zinc.
