Blackfriars Street, Edinburgh

Regeneration of a tight and constrained site, the project took on the form of renovation of the existing Listed former office building and associated car park combined with a large new build U-shaped link into the existing building to form a mix-use project of 110 bedroom student residences for Edinburgh University, a 37 bedroom hostel and warden’s flat with use inter-changeability between the residences and hostel during non-term time.

The new SmartCityHostel opened in September 2006.
